Eco Poetry Workshop - Bringing In the Wild

Join ecopoet Diana Sanders on a beautiful writing journey to bring you closer to the ‘wild’ that is within each of us. Ideal for those beginning their poetry journey and for more advanced practitioners.
Ecopoetry captures and expresses our connection with Nature and the environment. It is creative and exploratory, often using unique imagery, sound composition and illuminative metaphor to draw readers into the realities of the natural world. Diana will be encouraging us to use our senses of sight, hearing, touch, smell and feeling to invite this connection.
In a greater sense, ecopoetry is an effort to raise awareness of how human existence impacts the planet and to celebrate Nature, both wild and domesticated. For example, how would it feel to fly like a peregrine falcon or to run like a hare at full pelt over a meadow? How does submarine sonar at 235 decibels affect sea creatures, or how does a rave in a woodland affect the birds, insects and mammals? Diana will gently guide us to creatively wonder how what we do affects the world around us.
Together we will look at using a stream of consciousness to shake off our everyday routines and loosen any judgemental thoughts about our writing, and see the world from the perspective of animals, plants or rocks.
You will need to bring a pen, pencil or tablet to this event, and a willingness to put aside judgement of your own work. This workshop will be an interactive Zoom meeting.
Tickets: £20
Diana Sanders is an award-winning poet. Most of her work is influenced by the wildlife and landscape of North Wales, where she lives. As a composer too, she is interested in combining music and poetry, and both her musical compositions and her poetry have been published in books and magazines in the UK, the US and India. She has three children’s books coming out this year and is working on a book of ecopoems with three other poets. You can find more about her work here and listen to some here.
