Resurgence Talk: Guy Hayward - 'Walking Ourselves Home'

How is pilgrimage positioned in this modern world to help us find our direction again? How can we visit the sacred places and engage in spiritual practices along the footpath to know who we are? What gifts can we bring back from our journeys to everyday life?

Guy Hayward is Director of the British Pilgrimage Trust, which he co-founded in 2014 to promote the practice of 'bring your own beliefs' pilgrimage in Britain. He has been leading pilgrimages since 2016, guiding people in group singing about Nature as well as folk and sacred songs. He co-authored the book Britain’s Pilgrim Places.

Guy has been interviewed about modern pilgrimage for TV, Netflix and Radio 4, and he writes for the national media. While studying for a PhD at Cambridge on how singing forms community, he supervised undergraduates on the Music & Science course on psychoacoustics and psychology of music. Together with Rupert Sheldrake, he founded the Choral Evensong Trust to promote Britain's sacred choral tradition. He is half of the comedy singing double act Bounder & Cad.
