'Drawing in Long Light' full day life drawing

Join Resurgence for a special full‑day life drawing session during the longer days of summer. Drawing in Long Light offers artists generous time, space, and stillness to work the human form in an unhurried, attentive setting.

This is a friendly, mindful and untutored gathering of artists celebrating the human form. Life drawing is essential practice for artists at all stages, from complete beginners to experienced practitioners, and this extended day allows for deeper observation than our regular evening sessions.

The day is structured into two sessions:

• Session One: male model

• Session Two: female model

The structure of the day gently slows as it goes on, beginning with a few shorter poses and moving toward longer, sustained periods of drawing later in the day, allowing time for attention, stillness and depth.

Format

Hosted by experienced life drawing model Mark Gough, the day is calm, respectful and focused. You will be free to work in your own way and at your own pace. Depending on the pose length, you may find yourself working quickly and decisively, or more slowly and observantly.

There will be short breaks between sessions and a longer midday lunch break.
Please note: lunch is not provided.

In‑person attendance

• Limited to 10 artists in our beautiful gallery room
• Please bring your own drawing materials
• Easels and resting boards are provided
• Tea and biscuits will be available

Please use the car park accessed via School Lane, then follow the path through the garden to the Resurgence Centre on the left.
Do not park on Fore Street, Gregory Terrace or School Lane.

Online attendance

If the in‑person session is full, or you would prefer to draw from home, you are warmly invited to join us online via Zoom.

• Only the model will be visible

• The session will not be recorded
