An Introduction to Embodied Leadership: Practical Tools to Enhance Vitality, Balance, Presence, and Impact

Thu 2 Oct 2025 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM The Jing Institute, BN1 1RD

What to Expect

Your mind and body work together as part of an intricate ecosystem that shapes your wonderfully unique human experience.

The problem is that we live in a world that prioritises and overly-values the intelligence of the thinking brain.

For many of us, the body has been reduced to something we simply use to get from place to place, occasionally remember to feed, decorate with clothes and accessories, and maybe drag to the gym once in a while.

We tend to only notice it once it is screaming or stops working as it should.

And we’ve completely lost touch with the intuitive and instinctual wisdom that it holds. Knowledge that is fundamental in guiding us towards vitality, balance, connection, and right action.

This is a workshop for curious leaders, entrepreneurs, change-makers, coaches and healers. For anyone ready to explore personal or professional leadership in a more connected and integrated way.

Over two experiential hours, we will step out of our heads and into our bodies. We will slow down and reconnect with a deeper, wilder intelligence. One we’ve been taught to override, learned not to trust, and slowly forgotten how to hear.

During the workshop, you will have the opportunity to explore your own embodied conditioning and patterns, and learn tools to:

  • Stay grounded and purposeful under pressure – develop physical anchoring techniques to remain present, open, and connected to what truly matters, even in the face of conflict and resistance
  • Recognise and shift your stress patterns – identify your unique “stress signature”, including where tension and constriction shows up in your body, and develop somatic practices to respond skilfully from centre rather than reacting from old conditioning
  • Advocate fearlessly for what brings you alive – find clarity on your core values and build the embodied conviction to champion them, even when others push back
  • Navigate difficult conversations with more ease and confidence – develop embodied presence to stay open, strong, curious and inclusive during challenging dialogues
  • Transform reactive habits into conscious choices – break free from automatic patterns by creating somatic pause points that give you space between trigger and reaction, cultivating the capacity to choose your response in any situation
  • Lead through authentic presence – discover how your embodied way of being influences and inspires others without force or manipulation
  • Hold space for complexity and uncertainty - develop the somatic capacity to navigate ambiguity, stay present with not knowing, and remain steady and resourceful when there are no clear answers, multiple competing priorities, or rapidly changing circumstances
  • Maintain your energy and boundaries while staying connected - learn to protect your resources and stay true to yourself without becoming rigid, defensive, or disconnected from others

By the end of our time together, you'll have experienced these capacities in your body and have practical techniques you can use immediately.

How will you know if it’s for you?

Something in you just knows you’re ready.

Note: I believe this work should be accessible to all those creating positive change in the world. If you’re a leader from a purpose-driven organisation and financial resources are a barrier, a limited number of Community Tickets are available at no cost. The Context

We are living in times of rapid change, uncertainty, and escalating global crises. More is at stake, and more is being asked of us. The old ways of living, working and leading are leading to collapse both individually and collectively.

Picture this for a moment.

It’s mid-afternoon. Your calendar has been back-to-back all day. Your inbox is overflowing with unanswered emails. Your to-do list is getting longer. You feel like you are spinning in circles. You’re hungry, but you haven’t had time for lunch.

You realise you’ve been hunched over your laptop, staring at the screen for hours. You’re tired and have a headache. Your shoulders are tense, and your body feels stiff and achy. You notice you’ve been holding your breath and let out a sigh.

You’re doing your best to stay focused, but your mind is scattered, and you can’t think straight. Still, the project needs to be completed, so you push on.

You remember you need some information from your team. So you fire off a short, curt email. There’s no time to explain. They will just have to figure it out.

For a moment, your mind wanders to everything that is waiting for you outside of work. The disagreement you had with your partner. The constant demands from your children. All the things you haven’t had a chance to take care of. The weight of shoulds and musts piles up on top of an already exhausting day.

Then you get a call. A minor issue, but inconvenient on top of everything else. You snap. Over-react. Put down the phone and immediately regret it; aware you’ve just created another problem you will now need to fix.

Frustration kicks in. You’ve been here before. And you promised yourself you’d handle it better next time. But here you are again on this well-worn path. An automatic, conditioned way of responding that plays out before you even realise it’s happening.

And then comes the doubt. You’re passionate about your work. You want to make a difference. But something in you is starting to wonder if it’s all worth it. You feel exhausted, frazzled, and disconnected from everything and everyone.

What happened to your spark? Why does everything feel so hard these days? How did you end up here? There must be more to life than this!

What you need is some peace. Just a moment to stop and breathe. To get your head straight.

But your mind tells you a story: push through, work harder, work faster, get it done. You believe it.

In the process, you disconnect from the (not so subtle) cues your body is giving you. You override the tension, hunger, and fatigue. You ignore the warning signs of stress and overwhelm.

They aren’t important right now.

You get home from work. It’s late. There is a pile of dirty dishes in the sink. It’s the last straw. You pick yet another fight with your partner. And off you both go, into the same old argument that rears its head time after time.

And so the spiral goes. Your focus continues to fragment, your mind feels foggy, your patience ebbs away, you feel unsettled and distracted, your relationships suffer, you start questioning your capability and impact, and your health pays the price.

You are one step closer to burnout.

But you don’t have time for that.

Better just keep pushing through.

Working With Our Conditioned Patterns

Maybe this isn’t your exact story, but everyone has their own version.

Overcommitting, not saying no, avoiding conflict, micro-managing, procrastination, rescuing, withdrawing under stress, dominating, controlling, seeking approval....the list goes on.

These are all default patterns that have been conditioned over time.

And many of them are not choiceful. They are reactions in moments of stress.

But they are patterns that can fundamentally undermine your presence, influence and impact as a leader.

Many have their roots in childhood experiences and have become more ingrained through life events, learned behaviours, and the shaping forces of our history, culture, and society.

They play a powerful role in shaping our identity. Influencing who we believe we are, who we want to be, and, importantly, who we feel we need to be to protect our basic human need for safety, dignity, and belonging.

They affect how adaptable and flexible we are, our drive and determination, our potential, and our willingness to take action.

In our relationships, they influence how we express ourselves, how we connect with others, and our capacity to love and be loved. They shape our emotional capacity and agility, the roles we assume, the labels we give ourselves and others, and how we navigate power dynamics.

They define how we make sense of the world. Informing what we believe is possible.

Some of these patterns are conscious, many are not. All of them come from a deep intelligence. Smart adaptive strategies that made sense at the time as we learned to navigate our experiences and environment.

Some still drive us forward, but others no longer serve us. They hold us back, throw us off course, or keep us stuck.

Why Embodied Leadership?

Leadership today requires more than experience and strategic thinking. It calls for presence and a different way of being. One that is more embodied, relational, and regenerative.

Presence begins with awareness and the ability to stay open, connected, and on-purpose even amid chaos, uncertainty, and constant change.

Embodied leadership is about leading with your whole self. It’s not just what you do, but how you show up. The energy, awareness, and relational quality you bring to every situation and interaction.

It involves recognising patterns, breaking cycles, and letting go of outdated habits.

Embodied Leadership is a powerful and empowering approach that fundamentally changes the way we think and the way we engage with life.

Embodied leaders are able to:

  • stay calmer under pressure
  • make clearer, more grounded decisions
  • listen more fully and openly
  • build trust through connection
  • adapt more effectively to change
  • take purposeful action
  • stay steady and resourced through chaos
  • maintain and enhance their well-being and the well-being of others
  • manage energy and effort wisely
  • show adaptability and resourcefulness in the face of challenge
  • approach difficult situations with confidence and compassion

Embodied leaders understand that it is the inner work that fuels the outer impact. And they are actively committed to developing both.

So, if this resonates, maybe it is your invitation to explore what it means to lead in a more embodied way.
