380 years on, we relive history as we mark the dramatic events of The Battle of Marston Moor!
Join The Sealed Knot in an interactive family day out and explore how the royalist cause in the North was lost in the largest battle of this brutal civil war. Spend the day exploring our Living history encampment and taking part in our activities and arena displays including the grand battle finale.
Witness the spectacle of a battlefield complete with hundreds of infantry, artillery and cavalry troops as they retell the events of 1644 in which the largest battle of the civil war saw a combined Scottish and parliamentarian army defeat the royalists.

An opportunity to discover how the tropes of a 17th century army worked as well as get involved and discover if you’ve got what it takes! Learn, see and experience the sights and sounds of the English civil war as we bring history to life.

All Day Activities
Our Living History camp and activities tent will be open from 11am for you to explore alongside the performance displays. Relive History and immerse yourself in the 17th century discovering facts of the past and what it meant for the people as civil war raged around them.
- Kids Activity sheets - Available from the activities tent, follow the trail around camp as you hunt for troublesome black rats. Design your own 17th century flag and learn some fascinating facts about the English Civil War.
- Soldiers Tales- speak with the off-duty soldiers resting in camp and discover what it took to serve in the royalist and parliament armies.

- £15 Per Family (2 Adults & 3 Children)
- £5 Per Individual Adult
- £3 Concessions (OAP’S and Children under 16 years of age)
- Carers and Children under 5 enter free.
Dogs on lead are welcome. Please be mindful that there will be displays of gun fire and cannon fire through the day and some pets may find this distressing.
Tickets can be purchased in advance or can be purchased on arrival at the gate.

The Sealed Knot is the oldest re-enactment society in the UK, a registered educational charity, and the single biggest re-enactment society in Europe. The Sealed Knot brings history to life by staging events throughout the country all year round, offering a chance to experience at first hand the horrors of a nation at war with itself, as well as providing a glimpse of everyday life in the 17th century.
