GREAT TEW – A Battle for the Costwolds.

It is with deep regret that the Sealed Knot have cancelled our August Bank Holiday event that was due to take place at Great Tew on 30th and 31st August, due to the exceptional circumstances we are facing: drought conditions pose a high risk of wildfire, and there is clear advice not to undertake any activity that could start a fire.

In light of recent events and the recent government advice, and with the safety of our membership and that of members of the public in mind, we have felt compelled to make this difficult decision, particularly given the size and scale of the event. Even with the possible rain forecasted, we cannot be confident that the risk of fire and other associated risks will reduce significantly between now and the Bank Holiday weekend.

We recognise that the Emergency Services are currently overstretched and applaud the wonderful job that they are doing. We do not want to add to the stress and strains on them.

All members of the public who have already bought tickets will be refunded as soon as possible.
