This session invites local home-educated families to visit The Serge Hill Project for Gardening, Creativity and Health.

The Serge Hill Project for Gardening, Creativity and Health was founded as a Community Interest Company (CIC) in 2023 by Tom and Sue Stuart-Smith. The Project draws on Sue’s work as a psychiatrist, psychotherapist and author of the bestselling book, The Well-Gardened Mind, which explores the power of gardening to transform lives, as well as Tom’s horticultural expertise as an internationally renowned landscape architect.

Here at The Serge Hill Project, our education programme explores how seasonal gardening and engagement with nature allow us to learn holistically through experience, play and self-led discovery. Sessions will include hands-on gardening activities, creative workshops, ecological engagement and wellbeing-focused experiences which lead us through a range of subjects and areas of learning.

You will also have the opportunity to explore The Apple House, our award-winning building, which will be of particular interest to those interested in design and architecture, as well as the UK’s first and only Plant Library, home to 2,500 plant species that we use as a sensory, scientific and narrative resource.

Activities will be designed to be inclusive of a range of ages and abilities. Please complete the booking form when booking your place so that we can take your needs and interests into consideration. Our site has step free access, toilet facilities and quiet spaces.

Spaces will be limited to 6 groups or families per visit. Children must be accompanied by at least one parent or carer for the entire duration of the visit. Drop-offs are not permitted.

Details on how to find us will be provided to booked participants closer to the date. We are based in Bedmond, near Abbots Langley, only 15mins from St Albans and 20mins from Watford and Hemel Hempstead.

Please get in touch with rachel@sergehillproject.co.uk if there is anything we can do to support your visit. Transport funding is available for those in need.

Profits from bookings will go on to support these sessions and the wider work of Serge Hill Project CIC.
