Hebrew Classes at the Shaar - Fall 2026 Session

Learn Hebrew at the Shaar!

Whether you’re learning to read Hebrew for the first time, looking to expand your vocabulary, or ready to become more confident in conversation, there’s a class for you at the Shaar.

With five levels ranging from beginner to advanced, our Hebrew program offers a welcoming and engaging way to build your skills and deepen your connection to the Hebrew language.

LEVELS & WEEKLY SCHEDULE

Beginner 1

With Merav Luz
Mondays | 5:30–7:00 PM

New to Hebrew? Start here. Learn the Hebrew alphabet and vowels and begin reading simple words and phrases, with a focus on pronunciation and building reading confidence.

Beginner 2

With Merav Luz
Mondays | 7:00–8:30 PM

Build essential vocabulary and basic conversational skills for everyday situations. Develop your listening comprehension and become more comfortable speaking practical Hebrew.

Intermediate 1

With Galia Philip
Mondays | 5:30–7:00 PM

Begin constructing full sentences while developing your understanding of gender, plurals and the present tense. Students will also begin reading short texts and strengthening comprehension.

Intermediate 2

With Galia Philip
Mondays | 7:00–8:30 PM

Take your Hebrew further through conversation, reading and writing. Students will read short stories and articles, write short texts, begin using the past tense and build greater confidence speaking Hebrew.

Advanced

With Galia Phiip
Wednesdays | 5:30–7:00 PM

Develop greater fluency through more sophisticated conversation, reading and writing. Students will work with all tenses, explore more complex ideas and engage with Israeli language and culture, with an emphasis on real-world communication.

Please note: Books are not included in the class fee. Required books may be ordered and paid for directly through your teacher once classes begin.
