What are The Shenanigames?

The Shenanigames is an annual festival that revolves around a tournament where teams of two compete in a series of ridiculous, rowdy, and, most of all, reputation-ruining games. Only one duo is crowned the champions of The Shenanigames, and may etch their name into the coveted Golden Bugle 🎺

It's an elimination style tournament with teams getting knocked out each game, whittling down contestants gradually until only one team remains. This year, brace yourself for the battle of a lifetime (the bar is low) with 40 teams of two (80 contestants) competing for glorious victory in the tournament. You can enter as a contestant in the tournament 🏆, or join the day as a peasant 👨‍🌾 and just enjoy the festivities.

🎪 Festival

🎺 What is a part of the festival?
While the tournament is the main event- this year we’re also putting a lot of effort into making the day amazing for contestants and peasants alike. Think of it as a big day party with all your homies in full costume and mayhem going on all around you. We’ll be at the beautiful strandbad (see below), have DJs playing all day, & generally a sick time - so you don’t at all need to be competing in the tournament to get involved in the shenanigans. 📍 Where is this happening?
This year we’re very excited to be partnering with the beautiful Strandbad Plötzensee & renting a private field behind their beach for the glorious day on August 30th. We’re talking:

• 3000 m² of dedicated Shenanigames arena ⛳
• Central location in Berlin — on the Ringbahn📍
• Bar & restaurants — to keep thy spirits full 🍻🍕
• Beach within 50 meters — to keep thy pantaloons moist 🏖️
• Sound system, decks, & DJs all day - to keep thy Bardcore blasting 🪕

Things like buying/renting all the game equipment, speakers, decorations, renting the space, getting entrance to the Strandbad, and much more adds up quick for us, and the more budget we have, the more fun we can make the day.

We funnel each and every penny into the day, to make it as mesmerizing and magnificent as can be — leaving no coin to spare. We're talking grander games, crazier concepts, and more surprises up our sleeve.

🏆 Tournament

🏁 How is the tournament formatted?
This year's tournament is a mix of the usual large-scale games where teams directly compete vs eachother, and a carnival section of the day (4-5h), where 5 games will be setup and running simultaneously. Here, teams will go from station to station in their own time and compete with their duo for points, which will dictate if they make it to the semi-finals or not. See below for the general structure:

👫 How do I enter as a tournament contestant/team?
Option 1 - You have a partner and want to buy their ticket with yours.
➸ Purchase a ticket for yourself and your comrade (= 2 contestant tickets), naming them at checkout.

Option 2 - You have a partner but they will buy their ticket separately.
➸ Purchase a ticket for yourself, declare your partner-to-be at checkout, and ensure they secure their own ticket ASAP. If they don’t and tickets sell out, we’ll have to match you up or refund your single ticket.

Option 3 - You don't have a partner... yet!
➸ Purchase a ticket for yourself and together we will match you with a partner to create an unstoppable dream team, destined for true greatness.

🏆 Day Schedule

🕘 How is the day structured?
Great question - see below for the official timetable. Contestants should heed the schedule for their own enjoyment, while peasants can come and go as they please.

🎭 Costumes

We highly encourage everyone to come in costume (can be absolutely anything - see below for last year's Best Dressed) as it elevates the absurdity to unparalleled heights.

For tournament teams, duo costumes are encouraged. For peasants, come in a solo costume, or band together with a group of other plebs for a group costume. The wilder the better.  There will of course be prizes for Best Dressed Tournament Team and Best Dressed Peasant, so ready thy needles and get sewing.

While the true prize is of course a day of joyous laughter (right?), we also accommodate for the gold-mongering, medal-hoarding, trophy-wrangling, gluttonous goons with some prizes.

- 1st Place in the Tournament
- 2nd Place in the Tournament
- Best Dressed Tournament Team
- People's Peasant (the most inspiring & supportive peasant)
- Best Dressed Peasant (one person)
- Best Dressed Gamemaster (one person)

Subjective prizes are short-listed by the hosts - then awarded according to crowd cheer.

🎥 Will I be on camera?
Yes — we will have a dedicated crew (of one) to capture this year's shenanigans both for promotion on our socials as well as to ensure every shameful moment will live on for eternity.

🥺 What if I can't attend at all?
Join our mailing list at www.theshenanigames.com— we plan to host many more events in the future so keep your eyes and ears peeled.

❗What if I can't attend and I've bought a ticket?
For Tournament Tickets and especially Gamemaster Pledges, please let us know ASAP. Anytime before Aug 1st we'll issue a refund, no questions asked but after that we will try our best to fill your spot. We just don't want people holding tickets if they're unsure, limiting other keen warriors from joining ❤️‍🔥
