Joining Instructions
When: 10th - 16th August 2026
Time: Tuesday – Sunday 10 am – 5 pm
Where: Barn Pool, Mount Edgcumbe, S W Coast Path, Torpoint PL10 1HZ

Who: 6 years and older, and able to dig safely with adult supervision
Please note that the parents or guardians will be responsible for their children and will supervise them at all times.
Passenger Ferry: You can take the Cremyll Ferry leaving Admirals Hard (Plymouth Side) to Cremyll Torpoint (Cornwall Side) and walk from ferry landing to the Barn Pool. Walk from Ferry landing to The Barn Pool, 5mins.
Parking: Parking is available at the Barrow Centre Car Park. You will need to walk down to The Barn Pool Dig, 15 min walk.

What you need to bring:
- Sturdy footwear for walking, working in, with toe protection. Suitable footwear includes wellies, walking boots, and shoes that provide total foot coverage.
- Hat, sun cream, rain jacket, personal clothing etc.
- A packed lunch, snacks and water bottle. There are several places to purchase food and drinks near Mount Edgcumbe property: The Orangery, The Ferrier’s Café, Gate Café, and Mount Edgcumbe Arms Pub.
- Personal notebook and pencil.
What will be provided:
- Water / Tea / Coffee
- Safety glasses and protective gloves
- All tools and equipment for archaeological excavation
- Finds Recording equipment
- Bags for finds
A first aid kit and first aider will be on site.
All finds must be given to The SHIPS Project so they can be properly managed.
We will be continuing the excavation on the foundation, which are likely the remains of the medieval chapel from the village of West Stonehouse.
