Carole Ann Ford, born Carole Ann Lillian Higgins on June 16, 1940, in Essex, England, is a distinguished British actress known for her portrayal of Susan Foreman, the Doctor's granddaughter, in the iconic BBC science fiction series, Doctor Who.

Ford began acting at the age of eight, leading to a diverse career across film, television, and theatre. Notably, she appeared as Bettina in the 1962 film adaptation of "The Day of the Triffids." Her television repertoire includes roles in "Emergency-Ward 10," "Moonstrike," "Compact," and "Z-Cars."

In 1963, Ford became one of the original cast members of Doctor Who, playing Susan Foreman, a character depicted as a fifteen-year-old despite Ford being twenty-three at the time.  She departed the series in 1964 after an emotional farewell scene in "The Dalek Invasion of Earth" but reprised her role in the 20th-anniversary special, "The Five Doctors," in 1983, and the 30th-anniversary charity special, "Dimensions in Time." Beyond Doctor Who, Ford's stage work included comedies, dramas, and musicals such as "The Jungle Book," "Pride and Prejudice," and "Private Lives." She also lent her voice to numerous audio productions, further showcasing her versatility. In 1977, Ford transitioned into teaching, offering voice, presentation, and dialogue coaching to politicians, business professionals, lecturers, and actors.

She has continued to play the character of Susan in several Big Finish audio's and was rumored several times to be returning to the series.
