An Advent Webinar
Christmas is not only that God becomes human but that God is actually human. God becomes a helpless child, lying in a feed trough. Jesus cannot speak or do anything but simply be there, gloriously dependent on Mary and Joseph. It turns out that divine power is lowly and gentle, is helplessly, desperately human.
And yet this divine helplessness is precisely the power that sustains and heals the universe, holds all celestial objects in motion and gives breath to all living creatures.
What if Jesus is the servant of all humans— towel around his waste, doing the small, hidden, hard things no one else wants to do because he’s painting for us the best possible portrait of the unseen God? When as God Jesus says that he is among humans as their vulnerable servant, our human brother means exactly what he says.
What if the human things Jesus does show us what God is actually like in eternity, and the divine things Jesus does show us what it means to be fully human?
In this webinar, Kenneth Tanner will tell the story of God’s time among us as one of us, and share moments in his own story where, mysteriously, he’s encountered the face of Christ. We will begin to see that we are invited to be human as God is human in Jesus Christ.
