Join our monthly Floating Gong Bath experience at St Hugh's School Swimming Pool, Carswell Manor, Faringdon on Saturday 19th September 2026

Floating Gong Baths with The Sound of Peace offer a deeply immersive experience where sound and water work together to support profound rest and nervous-system regulation. As you lie back on large, sturdy airbeds and gently float on the surface of the warm pool, your body is held in a way that it rarely experiences in everyday life — weightless, supported, and effortlessly at ease.

This soft suspension in water allows the body to unwind more quickly, reduces pressure on the joints and spine, and helps the breath deepen naturally. Many people find that floating creates a sense of spaciousness in the chest, lightness in the limbs, and a feeling of being safely cocooned, allowing them to sink more deeply into relaxation than they can on land.

Your session is guided by Debbie — an experienced and fully qualified gong practitioner, and a member of the College of Sound Healing — who brings many years of experience supporting people in their healing and recovery from stress, exhaustion, and trauma. Her approach combines therapeutic sound, trauma-sensitive awareness, and gentle reassurance to create a safe, nurturing experience for each person in the water.

The powerful vibrations of the gongs, Himalayan singing bowls, and other instruments move freely across the surface of the pool and through the body. Water is an excellent conductor of sound, so the vibrations are often felt more deeply during floating sessions — almost like an internal massage that reaches layers of tension we don’t usually access. In the quiet moments between the waves of sound, the whole system can reset, inviting balance, harmony, and a deep sense of inner stillness.

Many people experience:

  • A profound feeling of weightlessness and release
  • Faster physical relaxation due to the body being supported by water
  • Enhanced absorption of sound vibrations
  • Improved quality of sleep
  • A calmer, more settled mind
  • Reduced muscle tension and physical discomfort
  • A deep meditative state with a sense of drifting or spaciousness

A Floating Gong Bath is an invitation to soften, to be held, and to let the combination of water and sound guide you into a level of rest that feels both soothing and transformative.
