Celebrating the Life of Good For Nothing
Greetings Good for Nothing-er
It’s been a while.
How are you doing out there?
What times we are in...
We’ve been contemplating the Good for Nothing days.
Coming together as creative humans to collaborate and support the work of grassroots change.
In that experimental, playful, generous Good for Nothing way - ‘creative collaboration meets rave’ as it was once described.
It was 2010 when we first gathered in Kings Cross, London, for a weekend, where the story began.
Over the following 15 years, Good for Nothing brought thousands of people together to tackle endless issues, imagining, creating and hacking our way towards a more beautiful world.
At its peak, there were over 40 chapters in 9 countries, and we went on to organise challenges that led to the birth of an award-winning film, a movement connecting young people to nature, a gaming app to accelerate cancer research, and a digital platform that raised hundreds of thousands for famine relief.
A rebel force.
There were so many stories of connection and achievement across the chapters, people doing incredible things to accelerate the work of cause-led innovators, activists and grassroots changemakers in the places we call home.
Doing good things for nothing.
We learned so much about the possibility and potential of participating in these experiences. The learning, connection and community that comes from an experimental, playful, collaborative, challenge-based way of approaching the gnarliest issues around us.
And the power of creative generosity - giving what you’re good at.
Good for Nothing came to a gradual halt, life did its thing, and we never celebrated and honoured this extraordinary cycle.
So we’re going to do that, and we’d like to invite you to join us
An evening to celebrate the life of Good for Nothing, to hear stories from the community, to reflect on the big learnings and why they still matter in these times.
And perhaps, just maybe… to plant seeds for something new to emerge.
With love
Dan, Tom and crew
