WEBINAR: Life Insurance as a Planning Tool: What Private Client Practitioners Need to Know

Wed 4 Nov 2026 12:00 PM - 1:15 PM GMT Online, Microsoft Teams

With recent and impending changes to inheritance tax rules making estate planning increasingly challenging, life policies remain one of the few planning tools that can, when appropriately structured, sit outside the taxable estate.

Life insurance can play a valuable role in estate planning, particularly where clients face potential IHT liabilities, liquidity pressures, business succession issues or unequal asset structures. This free webinar will give private client practitioners a practical overview of how life insurance can support, complement or safeguard the planning strategies they advise upon, and the circumstances in which it may be worth raising with clients.

Evelyn Partners Financial Planners Robert Mullins and David Corben will explore the types of policies most relevant in an estate-planning context, how they interact with trusts and inheritance tax rules, and the practical considerations solicitors should understand when discussing these options with clients.

Using practical, interactive examples and cashflow modelling, Robert and David will demonstrate situations in which life insurance may be appropriate and consider how it compares with, and complements, other planning tools available to clients. The session will focus on real-world examples, highlighting opportunities, limitations and the risk areas practitioners should be aware of.
