The Swing Era are proud to present our brand new festival... ATOMIC COCKTAIL! 

Our International Swing Dance Weekender will be an explosion of dance and live music, bringing some of the best Lindy Hop teachers to Birmingham. Join us from 1st - 3rd November at The Royal Birmingham Conservatoire for an exciting and memorable weekend to meet new dancers, improve your Lindy technique and listen to some of the best musicians Birmingham has to offer.

Friday 1st November:

7.30pm: Welcome and Arrivals

8pm: Welcome Dance: welcoming everyone to Atomic Cocktail!

Saturday 2nd November:

11-1pm / 2-3pm - Beginners Lindy Hop Classes

11-1pm / 2-4pm - Intermediate/Advanced Lindy Hop & Solo Jazz Classes

8-12pm: Saturday Night Ball with The Jim Wynn Swingtet

Sunday 3rd November:

11-1pm / 2-3pm - Beginners Lindy Hop Classes

11-1pm / 2-4pm - Intermediate/Advanced Lindy Hop & Solo Jazz Classes

4-7pm: Farewell Tea Dance with Live Music from Tom Chapman's Jazz Trio

FULL WEEKEND PASS

We want everyone to feel comfortable at the right level for them, so we have FOUR Dance Class options to sign up for during the festival. 

Read through the class descriptions below to help you decide which ticket to book.

1) Lindy Hop Beginners/Improvers (partnered)

2) Lindy Hop Intermediate (partnered)

3) Lindy Hop Advanced (partnered)

OR

4) Solo Jazz (Open Level)

Class Descriptions:

Solo Jazz - Open Level:

• To dance solo jazz confidently the moves must feel comfortable in your body. If this causes you anxiety, then this class is for you! All abilities are welcome.

• In these classes, the emphasis is on learning the style, technique, and rhythm of each move, as well as how to transition between them so that they ebb and flow.

Lindy Hop - Beginners/Improvers:

• This class is suitable for total beginners and also people who have been dancing for a few months and are getting to grips with the basics. This might be your first Swing Dance festival.

• This class will help form the basis of your Lindy Repertoire as you’ll be given the skills to feel confident dancing on the social dance floor

Lindy Hop - Intermediate:

• This class is suitable for those who have been dancing Lindy Hop for a year or so. This might be your first Swing Dance festival but you are attending classes and social dances regularly.

• Ideally you are familiar with moves such as Swing Out, Circle, Tuck Turn, Pass. This class will begin building up your repertoire of Lindy moves and will help you create your own styling.

Lindy Hop - Advanced:

• This class is suitable for those who have a minimum of two years Lindy Hop experience. You regularly attend social dances and might be starting to experiment with variations and styling

• Ideally you are comfortable dancing moves such as Texas Tommy, Swing Out, Tandem, Hand to Hand Charleston, Aeroplanes, Chase and are comfortable dancing at slower and faster paces

SINGLE DAY TICKETS

Not able to join us for the full weekend? You're welcome to join in the daytime classes and social for either Saturday or Sunday!

To select your ticket, scroll down to "Single Day Tickets" and choose your Lindy Hop or Solo Jazz Class and the day you'd like to join us for.

When you arrive, remember to sign in at Reception with one of The Swing Era team.

If you'd prefer to join us for our Socials Only, you can purchase a Party Pass for:

- Friday evening from 8pm

- Saturday evening from 8pm with Live Music from Jim Wynn's Swingtet

- Sunday afternoon from 4pm with Tom Chapman's Jazz Trio
