Online Tailoring - The Bespoke Jacket

Fri 18 Sep 2026 2:00 PM - Fri 9 Jul 2027 5:00 PM BST The Tailoring Academy Ltd., SK11 6HS

This year-long class is hugely popular with participants from around the globe. Students learn and practice their skills from home, all the time supported by our dedicated team of tutors. Participants who completed the course successfully have, in the past, successfully applied for a place on our full-time Level 5 Diploma or International Programme.

“These online classes have truly been a godsend. They give me a glimpse into the world of bespoke tailoring and provide an oasis of love and respect for craftsmanship, patience, and perseverance.
The tutors do a fantastic job during the live sessions, and between classes they’re quick to respond to any questions. They have the patience of saints, a great sense of humour, and you can tell they genuinely enjoy teaching.
Saskia B, participant in the 2024/25 class

Building on this success, we are excited to confirm the continuation of the programme in 2026/27. Once again, we teach the individual pattern draft, the cutting and the tailoring of the classic bespoke jacket to those who want to make a start on their tailoring journey. Not holding back with the secrets of the trade, we deliver time-tested tricks you won’t find in any book. And uniquely, the curriculum offers a choice between the male and female figure types.

Starting 18th September 2026 and running through to 9th July 2027, the course offers 34 weeks of step-by-step lessons. Sessions take place Fridays 2 to 5pm UTC (+1) and recordings are made available after each to support self-study. Tutors are available in a dedicated chat channel to support participants with queries between sessions.

Suitable for participants with sewing experience, the class delivers all fundamental techniques of the bespoke tailoring process. Prior knowledge of pattern construction is not required as we guide you through the process step-by-step. We use tailor's thimble and needle for hand stitching tasks and advise that you familiarise yourself with these tools prior to the class. Previous experience in tailoring or knowledge in pattern drafting is not required. It is your responsibility to ensure you can work at the required level. Please contact us to discuss your circumstances if in doubt. The pattern construction method is repeatable and will serve you as blueprint in future projects.

IMPORTANT: this class is suitable for

  • male figures with a waist measurement that is smaller than the chest measurement.
  • female figures with a waist measurement that is smaller than 90% of the bust measurement.

Please get in touch with any other queries you may have. We are happy to help!
