World Builders Studio: Map Makers & World Builders

A brand new creative workshop for children aged 7–11+

What if you could invent your own world?

A world with hidden caves, floating islands, enchanted forests, curious creatures or rainbow rivers...

At World Builders Studio, children will become artists, explorers and storytellers as they design an imaginary world entirely from their own ideas.

Day 1: Map Maker

Children will fill their sketchbooks with ideas before designing and illustrating a beautifully detailed map of their world. Through drawing, watercolour, collage, creative writing and map-making, they'll develop landscapes, landmarks, characters and hidden places, learning how artists use sketchbooks to explore and develop ideas.

Optional Day 2: World Builder (£25 add-on or £35 as a standalone day)

Children can return to bring part of their world to life in 3D using cardboard, paper and mixed-media materials. They'll experiment with simple model-making techniques to transform their drawings into imaginative landscapes and landmarks.

Want to join for Day 2 only? No problem! We'll begin with a fast-track world-building and map design activity, giving children everything they need to jump into the model-making session without attending Day 1.

This is a process-led workshop, meaning the focus is on curiosity, creativity and exploration rather than copying a finished example. Every child's world will be completely unique.

Children should bring a packed lunch and water bottle.

Need a little extra flexibility? Add our Extended Day option for just £10 per day.

Before and after the workshop, children can enjoy a relaxed Creative Club with a choice of quiet, open-ended activities including sketching, drawing, creative prompts, construction challenges, books and games.

Extended Day places are limited and must be booked in advance.
