Mike Viola

Mike Viola is a prolific American producer, musician, songwriter, and singer known for his work in the power pop genre. Born in 1966, he first gained attention in the 1980s as a Boston-area musical talent before launching his professional career with the New York-based band Candy Butchers. He gained widespread recognition for providing the singing voice for the title track of the 1996 film That Thing You Do!. As a highly sought-after producer and collaborator, Viola has worked with acclaimed artists including Panic! at the Disco, Mandy Moore, Andrew Bird, and Dawes. Throughout his career, he has continued to release his own acclaimed solo material, including the albums The American Egypt  , Godmuffin, and Paul McCarthy. His music is characterised by smart, hook-laden pop that draws comparisons to influences like The Beatles and Elvis Costello. He has also contributed to soundtracks for films like Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story and Get Him to the Greek. Based in Los Angeles, Viola continues to produce new music, tour, and mentor new talent.
