Join us on Saturday 19 September 2026 for a special one-night fundraiser celebrating the full, fabulous return of Hebden Bridge Folk Roots Festival next year! On the road to that three-day, town-wide festival on 17–19 September 2027, we’re showcasing three boundary-pushing artists redefining traditional music. Expect an evening of joyous, raucous folk song, followed by a free open session and be part of the journey to restore one of Yorkshire’s most-loved festivals to Hebden Bridge.

Whether it's buying a ticket, signing up to our mailing list or volunteering in 2027, every show of support will help give Hebden Bridge Folk Roots Festival the welcome back it deserves.

BROWN WIMPENNY
'Distinctly Northern 11-piece traditional folk ensemble, trading in ‘energy, eccentricity, communion and joy’ The Quietus
Named after a distant 19th-century relative of tenor banjoist Seth Lockwood, Brown Wimpenny began as informal Sunday jam sessions, growing to as many as 25 members before settling into its current 11-piece line-up.
‘We see the band as a shared social and creative endeavour,’ explains Anna Korbel. ‘We love the sense of the everyday and the ordinary, and rejoicing in the collective and communal. I think that's the key to our process and our ethos. We're not over-egging anything. We're just seeing it and playing as it is.’
Their enormous medleys and rough-around-the-edges charm can be heard in all their glory on their acclaimed Broadside Hacks debut, Long Live Brown Wimpenny.

JENNIFER REID

SATNAM GALSIAN
British-Asian progressive artist interweaving ‘hypnotic Punjabi folk songs’ with Celtic trad. ‘A best-kept secret.’ Songlines
She was recently named among Leeds’ most influential South Asian figures by Asian Standard, with judges praising her music and advocacy for challenging ‘preconceived notions about culture, gender and artistic possibility.’
