Join us to hear about an exciting addition to the Trees and Woodland Strategy (TAWS) toolkit – a new module focused on the social and cultural values of trees! This event will be a brilliant opportunity to hear directly from the team that has created this new guidance.
Together with Forest Research, The Tree Council is pleased to invite local authorities to attend an online lunch and learn session about how to understand and measure the ways that people and communities value trees. These social and cultural values are often overlooked as they can be difficult to quantify, but they are a vital factor to consider when developing a TAWS and making decisions.
Whether your tree strategy is already in place or is in development, this session and the new module itself will provide useful insights into the latest research.
The session will include:
- An introduction to social and cultural values
- Presentation of the new module and how it can support your work
- Look ahead at upcoming research and opportunities to be involved
- Interactive discussion and Q&A
The event will feature leading social scientists Dr Liz O’Brien and Dr Stephen McConnachie (Forest Research) and will be facilitated by The Tree Council. We look forward to discussing this important topic with you.
This session is part of a research project funded by Defra, and delivered by Forest Research, Fera Science, York University and The Tree Council.
Target audience: local authorities, consultants (e.g. delivering tree strategy development)
