The Tree Council’s Grants Programme 2025/26

Join The Tree Council, the national charity working together for the love of trees, for a free online session introducing this year's tree planting grants to support the establishment of tens of thousands of trees.

We’ll walk you through all our trees outside woodland funding opportunities and the free tree scheme to support your projects bringing nature into the heart of communities.

Learn how to apply, key deadlines, criteria for each grant and tips for a successful application.

Who should attend: Local authorities, community groups, charities and other NGOs, landowners and farmers

Tree Council Grant Opportunities:

• Trees Outside Woodland Fund (England only)
  Grants between £10,000 - £40,000 for planting trees outside of woodland supported by Defra.
• Network Rail Community Tree Planting Fund (England, Scotland & Wales)
  Grants between £2,500 - £10,000 for projects on publicly accessible or visible land with clear community benefit.
• SP Energy Networks Tree Planting Fund (Scotland only)
  Grants between £2,500 - £10,000 for tree planting projects that enhance Scottish communities.
• National Highways Three Million Trees Programme (England only)
  Apply for free UK-grown trees for large-scale planting (2,500 to 50,000 trees).
• Branching Out Fund (UK-wide)
  Grants from £250 to £2,500 for schools and community-led planting projects.
