Victoria Beach Bike Jam

Get ready to ride into the heat of summer — the Victoria Beach Bike Jam is back, and this year’s theme is Burning Jam. Part bike ride, part costume party, part neighborhood adventure, Bike Jam brings together friends, neighbors, and first-timers for one of Victoria Beach’s most unforgettable nights of the summer. Past Bike Jam events have brought together over 180 riders, travelling in color-coded teams to pit stops across the peninsula before reuniting at the Clubhouse for music, dancing, and a big end-of-night celebration.

This year, we’re turning up the temperature. Burning Jam is all about fire, glow, desert heat, neon nights, wild costumes, and bikes lit up like rolling beacons. Think flaming colors, glowing wheels, sun-scorched style, campfire energy, lava, sparks, desert disco, phoenix feathers, smoke-show sparkle, or full-on post-apocalyptic party vibes. Each team is encouraged to bring its own interpretation of the theme - the brighter, bolder, stranger, and more creative, the better.

The evening will follow the classic Bike Jam format that has made the event such a local favorite. Riders will gather with their teams at a location chosen by their team captain, then head out by bike to a series of host pit stops across the community. At each stop, teams can expect music, games, drinks, treats, and plenty of surprises. Hosts are encouraged to have each stop to develop its own theme, activity, drink, snack, and atmosphere, helping make every stop feel distinct and memorable. 

Bike Jam is also built around mixing, meeting, and making the night feel bigger than your own group. As in previous years, teams will cross paths with other teams at different pit stops before everyone comes together at the final Clubhouse stop. That same spirit of community, surprise, and shared ridiculousness will carry through this year - whether you arrive dressed as a Firestarter, a desert drifter, a camp counsellor from the end of the world, or a human disco inferno. 

Costumes and bike decorating are strongly encouraged. Glow sticks, bike lights, reflective gear, wild hats, themed team outfits, and over-the-top accessories are all part of the fun. The only real rule is to ride safely, look out for your team, and bring the kind of positive, friendly energy that makes people tell stories about your group for the rest of the summer.

The night ends with everyone reunited at the Clubhouse for music, drinks, dancing, and a chance to celebrate the chaos, creativity, and community spirit that make Bike Jam what it is.

Beyond the costumes and party, Bike Jam also supports local cycling and community initiatives. Proceeds have gone toward bike facilities in Victoria Beach, including a bike repair station initiative, as well as support for The WRENCH in Winnipeg, a non-profit community bike shop.

Bike Jam is not just a ride - it’s a rolling summer party, a community tradition, and one very good reason to go completely over the top.
