Education | Movement | Community - The Motherload
Off the back of the amazing feedback and success of our first event at the Avalon Pilates studios last month we’re launching a new monthly Education | Movement | Community series combining:
Education – bringing expert practitioners into the room for informative, important & candid conversations about all things postpartum - including women’s health, relationships & sex; identity & emotions in motherhood; and career & return to work amongst other. Each month will centre conversation around a different theme and bring new experts into the room;
Movement – tailored postnatal reformer and mat pilates classes delivered by expert trainers, designed to help with aspects such as pelvic floor, core, mobility and strength, in the tranquil & supportive setting of the Avalon studios;
Community – most importantly, connecting brilliant women on the wild ride of motherhood to share their stories, build new connections, and have some fun together
(plus yummy treats, goody bags, and childcare to help with the smalls so you can focus on YOU)

July's event is all about The Motherload - the huge physical, mental & emotional transitions we go through in motherhood; 'mum-guilt and the sometimes conflicts we feel; the mental load and the challenge of the juggle; the perfect mother myth & the pressures we feel to 'have it all'; how we think about the old me versus the 'new' me and more...
Expert speakers -
Kendra Blake, Perinatal therapist & Matrescence Coach – Kendra Blake is an integrative perinatal therapist and matrescence coach who has been working therapeutically for nearly a decade within clinics, hospitals and the private sector supporting women through all stages of their lives. Over the years her passion has evolved, and just prior to becoming a mother herself, she stumbled across the theory of Matrescence (a word used to describe the transition and evolution of a woman becoming a mother). She has since undertaken additional training in perinatal mental health, matrescence and motherhood sociology to better support mother's through postpartum and beyond. She is the owner of MamaThrive and offers motherhood therapy, motherhood circles, online courses and a fortnightly podcast (called MamaThrive) to best support women navigating motherhood.
Helly Metcalfe, Certified Life Coach, Facilitator, and Founder of The Village Coach—supporting women navigating the juggle of work, life, and motherhood. The Village Coach approach is a heady mix of non-judgemental, supportive, nurturing spaces for Mums, combined with realistic practical tools for mindset mastery. Helly's sessions empower Mums to completely remap the way they go through Motherhood - moving from overwhelmed and exhausted to discovering complete clarity and conviction in where they want to go next. Helly's compassionate, down-to-earth approach is rooted in her own lived experience and method is completely client led, encouraging you to show up messy, unfiltered and as you are - and meeting you exactly at that point. When she’s not coaching, Helly is likely connecting with her own village over a glass or plate of something delicious, jumping in a cold lake or running around after her 3 small people.
