The brilliant young pianist, Anton Pigott, aged 17, will be playing Mendelssohn’s 1st piano concerto in G minor accompanied by Taunton Sinfonietta and friends and conducted by Andrew Gillett.   We will also play Haydn’s Armida Overture and Mozart’s symphony no 38 (“Prague’).

Anton started the piano at the age of 3 with Jill Bird, a Suzuki teacher in Totnes. He was home educated until he was 11 and surrounded by music with professional violinists for parents and three brothers who all play piano and violin. At the age of 14 Anton spent 2 years as a student of Elmhurst Ballet School in Birmingham and has represented the UK in the Dance World Cup winning a silver medal for his solo. During his second year at ballet school, Anton studied piano with Victor Lim and travelled to Manchester for his lessons. Anton was awarded first place in the ISA Young Musician Competition middle category and in April 2024 he was a national finalist in the Rotary Young musician competition. He recently performed in the finals of the Wells Cathedral School Concerto Competition 2025. Anton has given recitals to various societies, and made his debut concerto performance playing the Grieg Piano Concerto with the Lyric Chamber Orchestra. Anton now attends Wells Cathedral School as a piano specialist. He studies with the head of the keyboard department, Professor John Byrne.
