"The whole world is a story." Michael Meade famously said.
Stories are the basis of how we understand the world as human beings. Whether or not you you already call yourself a “storyteller”, you tell stories every day – to yourself and to others – about who you are, what the world is like, what the past means, and what the future holds.
Why this course matters...
The stories we create can be truly entrapping, or liberating. Young people often remain stuck in limiting and unhealthy stories. This day will help you to identify where and how you are already telling stories, and develop your skills as a visionary storyteller, including how to:
Use story to raise young people’s aspirations
Help others to develop their agency and recognise they can make a difference
Learn how to bring young people and colleagues on a transformative journey, shifting mindsets and deepening understanding
Help yourself and those you work with to talk about themselves and each other in constructive, optimistic ways
Develop your presence, articulation, eloquence and vocal ability as a storyteller
