This hands-on beginner woodworking course introduces high school students to the fundamentals of woodworking in a safe, supportive shop environment. Students will learn essential shop safety, planning, measuring, layout, and proper use of both hand and power tools, as they complete functional projects.
Many schools have reduced or eliminated traditional shop and vocational education programs leaving fewer students with the opportunity to develop practical trade skills. This woodworking program helps fill that gap. These skills can lead to more self-reliance with the ability to create, build, and repair, as well as discover the satisfaction of building something with your own hands. Students will have the benefit of learning with instructor Dave Day, owner of D.A. Day Inc. Woodworks in Stowe, a maker of fine cabinetry and custom woodworks.
