Wee Varietal: Sauvignon Blanc
A Wee Varietal: Sauvignon Blanc — One grape, many expressions, remarkable range
For this Wee Focus, we're celebrating Sauvignon Blanc—one of the world's most recognisable and electrifying white grapes. From the bold, sun-drenched expressions of Chile and Australia to the aromatic, sun-baked vineyards of Spain, Sauvignon Blanc is a grape that wears its terroir on its sleeve while delivering an endlessly varied and vibrant drinking experience.
Join us Saturday 1st from 1:00 – 2:00pm as we taste four very different expressions of Sauvignon Blanc, including one that might just challenge everything you think you know about the grape. We're venturing into skin-contact territory with an orange Sauvignon Blanc from Chile—expect texture, depth, and a whole new dimension to this familiar variety. We'll also be exploring a sun-ripened Australian expression, before heading to Spain for something a little unexpected: a Sauvignon Blanc blended with Macabeo, two grapes from very different traditions finding common ground in the glass. And then there's our mystery fourth—we're keeping that one under wraps for now.
Expect everything from zesty citrus and tropical fruit to honeyed, oxidative complexity and nutty, textured intrigue—all united by Sauvignon Blanc's signature brightness, but pushed in directions you might not see coming.
As always, this will be a relaxed, approachable tasting, complete with cheeseboards. Perfect for anyone curious about one of the world's most versatile grapes—or simply looking for a thought-provoking way to spend a Saturday afternoon.
