Gabriella Tavini

Gabriella is a North-West based English actor, writer, singer, and guitarist with Irish and Italian heritage. She starred as Jessie in The Story of Jessie Gavin, (The Unity Theatre) a play about Liverpool’s first Gentleman Jack. Guest starred as Helena in Emmerdale (ITV) and was awarded Best Performance at Forbidden Worlds Festival for playing Pippa in TRUST THY SISTER, her debut performance in a short film. She was awarded a Scholarship to study with the American Arts of Television and Film in Los Angeles. After attaining a First in her BA English Literature Degree, she was awarded a scholarship to study an MA Degree in Creative Writing graduating with a Merit. She was also a member of The Royal Exchange's Young Writer's company in Manchester. Writing wise, her work nestles snuggly between comedy and drama exploring female driven narratives, friendship, psychology and the supernatural. She’s currently pitching her TV Pilot to producers and production companies, with a feature film script in its final stages and a one-woman show in development.

This talk will include a screening of the 15-minute short film TRUST THY SISTER, which Gabriella stars in written/directed by Molly Wise. It is a psychological, folk, horror which tells the story of three actresses showcasing a rehearsal performance for their director. But as the story progresses, the lines between reality and fiction begin to blur. Accusations fly and blood is spilled as a tale is told of the brutal 17th Century Witch Trials.

During its festival run, it won Best Horror and Best Performance at Forbidden Worlds and Best Production Design at Worcester Film Festival. It was nominated for the Grand Prix New Wave Award at Cannes Indie Shorts and Best Makeup and Costume at Birmingham Film Festival.

After the screening and talk, we invite reflections around the film's themes such as: sacrifice, womanhood, betrayal and how and why these themes resonate with our present day experience of every day life.

Come and join the conversation….
