Sancerre.

For centuries, this little village perched above the Loire has produced wines beloved around the world. But the Sancerre most of us know is only the beginning of the story.

'My grandmother for me, like many of us in Food + Beverage, is my origin story for my daily work...a restaurateur for 40 years, she taught me about food and hospitality from my earliest years. Her favorite wine was Sancerre, long before any recent trends in an era when these wines were truly special. Come drink the truly special and deeply honest Sancerre from our Cellar...the juice is worth the squeeze.' - Jacob

Join us around the Farmtable at our Morris Wine Shop as we dig deep into the real story of Sancerre: the history, extraordinary soils, slopes and villages, old vines, and the remarkable growers who have made this corner of the Loire one of the great places for white wine on earth.

Our mentor Gia will lead us through a thoughtful, delicious exploration of Sancerre, featuring wines from some of the appellation’s most revered producers, including Alphonse Mellot, Gérard Boulay, and more.

We’ll look beyond Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir as grape varieties and into Sancerre as a place, a landscape capable of producing wines that are mineral, savory, layered, beautifully restrained, and profoundly complex.

A Focus on the Two Great Names in Sancerre:

Alphonse Mellot represents one of Sancerre’s great historic wine families, with roots in the region stretching back more than five centuries. Generation after generation has tended the family vineyards, with Domaine La Moussière becoming synonymous with beautifully detailed, age-worthy expressions of Sancerre. These are wines of precision and depth, wines that remind us that Sancerre can be so much more than simply crisp and refreshing.

Gérard Boulay, from the celebrated village of Chavignol, comes from another deeply rooted Sancerre family whose vineyard history reaches back centuries. Gérard has become one of the region’s most respected growers, crafting wines from steep limestone slopes with extraordinary patience and sensitivity. His finest bottles possess an almost meditative quality: layered, mineral, quietly powerful wines that can evolve beautifully over many years.

And these are exactly the kinds of wines we want to explore together.

Wines for the DECK, bright, beautiful, irresistible

Wines for the BOAT, mineral, salty, refreshing, and impossible to put down

Wines for the DINNER PARTY, thoughtful, complex bottles that reward attention and conversation

And wines for the CELLAR, bottles to tuck away and rediscover years from now, when time has revealed another dimension entirely

This will be a DELICIOUS and casual Saturday afternoon. Space is VERY limited.

THIS POUR LIST WILL BE A DELICIOUS SURPRISE; 21+ ID IS REQUIRED TO ATTEND.
