Join us for a deep dive into Galicia, Spain’s wonderfully distinctive Atlantic corner, where rugged coastlines, green hills, ancient traditions, and exceptional wines come together.

Our Wines of Galicia masterclass in West Hartford begins with the story of the region itself, from its Celtic roots and Roman influence through the upheavals of the Franco era and into the vibrant, modern Galicia of today. Along the way, we’ll explore how this history, geography, and culture have shaped the wines and the way people eat and drink here.

We’ll look at Galicia’s cool, wet Atlantic climate and the unique challenges, and opportunities, it creates for viticulture, before turning our attention to the region’s remarkable native grape varieties. We’ll explore the character of indigenous grapes, tasting wines along the way and discovering how dramatically they can differ from one Galician growing region to another.

And, because wine in Galicia is inseparable from the table, gastronomy will be a major part of our journey. We’ll talk about the region’s celebrated seafood, octopus, shellfish, pork, peppers, potatoes, cheeses, and other traditional foods, and most importantly, why these foods work so beautifully with Galician wines. We’ll even send you home with a few recipes to try with your favorite bottles.

Expect a lively, delicious exploration of a part of Spain that feels worlds away and wines that deserve our devoted attention as we greet the Season and light the grill.
