Why can't American women play baseball? 'Shutout!' gives voice to American girls and women from age 9 to 90, sharing their experiences playing the game they love in the face of crippling gender discrimination, misogyny, and ignorance. Some of the most accomplished women to play the game, such as Ila Borders, Oz Sailors, and Lilly Jacobson are featured, along with experts such as political scientist Jennifer Ring, pioneering sportswriter Lisa Nehus Saxon, and author Jean Hastings Ardell.
