Pin the Tale - Online Workshop

Join us for a relaxed and inspiring evening of creative writing, using the idea of three-word locations to spark stories about the places that matter to us.

The Writers' Block What[areyour]3Words project takes inspiration from the three-word address system used by what3words and transforms it into a creative storytelling tool. Through simple prompts and shared conversation, we explore how three words can open the door to memories, imagination, and new ways of seeing familiar places.

During this friendly two-hour online workshop, you’ll be guided through a series of short writing exercises designed to help you develop ideas, experiment with language, and create your own piece of writing inspired by place. Whether you enjoy poetry, storytelling, or simply putting thoughts on the page, this workshop offers a welcoming space to write and share with others.

The session will be led by Jack Lowe, creator of the online platform Pin the Tale — a map-based storytelling project where people can write about real locations in the UK using their unique three-word addresses and pin their stories for others to discover.

As part of the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to explore how place can inspire writing and how stories can become part of a wider creative map of the UK.

No previous writing experience is needed. This is a relaxed, supportive session and a fun way to spend an evening writing creatively with others online, sharing ideas and discovering new stories about the world around us.

What to bring:
Please bring a digital image of a place in the UK that intrigues, interests, or inspires you. This could be somewhere meaningful to you, somewhere mysterious, or simply a place that sparks your imagination. We’ll use these images as starting points for our writing during the session.
