2026 Rooted & Written Conference Application

Applications are open for the 2026 Rooted & Written Fellowship! The conference takes place from Saturday, April 25 to Sunday, May 3, 2026, and consists of both in person and online courses. We’re excited to offer two keynote speakers with moderators, a seminar speaker, six flash classes, and five core classes across multiple genres (memoir, fiction, essay, poetry, and screenwriting).

Tuition is free if you are accepted into the Rooted & Written Conference.

Please note:

• Once you’ve paid your $25 application fee, you will receive a confirmation email with the link to the conference application.

• Please submit your payment and conference application with the same email that you plan to use for Zoom access for the online portion of the conference.

• This conference takes place both in person in the Bay Area and online. Attendance is required for all days of the conference. Fellows are expected to participate in all mandatory sessions; failure to do so may result in the cancellation of Fellow status. If you apply, please plan to block the full conference dates on your calendar in order to fully participate and benefit from the experience. The conference schedule, along with updates on programming and instructors, will be available on our website at www.rooted-written.org.

• We will select up to fifty (50) Fellows.
