**CANCELLED**THURSDAYS, APRIL 27th - JUNE 1st |Find your community of writers, move your writing practice from the private to the public, and begin to build an audience for your work. With twin goals of creativity and courage, over the course of six weeks, we will engage with our local multicultural literary histories, read contemporary Bay Area writers, and learn about local readings, journals, presses, residencies, fellowships, and more. We will read portions of three books, write two new pieces and revise one, and attend a reading together for our last class.
Leigh Lucas is a writer in San Francisco. Her chapbook LANDSICKNESS was selected by Chen Chen for the 2023 Sunken Garden Poetry Chapbook Award and is forthcoming from Tupelo Press. Shas been awarded residencies at Tin House, Sewanee, and Kenyon, and been recognized with AWP’s 2020 Kurt Brown Prize for an emerging poet, as well as nominations for Best of Net and multiple Pushcart Prizes. Leigh’s poems can be found in or are forthcoming from North American Review, Smartish Pace, Frontier Poetry, and elsewhere. She holds a BA from Stanford and an MFA from Warren Wilson.
