THIS IS OURS KC PRESENTS:

STIMULATE: This Is A Dance Party

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO (FAQs)

If you're wondering is this my type of party? Please read below.

What is STIMULATE: THIS IS A DANCE PARTY?
A monthly dance party series that brings the focus back to the dance floor. While all are welcome, STIMULATE was created as a safe and inclusive space for Black queer people + queer people of color.

What type of music is played at STIMULATE?
Music selection features a blend of ghettotech and club mixes inspired by Detroit techno, Chicago house, Baltimore/Jersey club, Afro Beats, and other international sounds and dance music pioneered by Black/Queer producers and DJs.

Each month, STIMULATE’s resident DJ L0V3 is joined by special guest STIMULATORS to deliver a body shaking soundtrack for you to move to.

For those feeling a little “overstimulated”, the living room serves as an escape from the bass knocking music in the theater to the quieter sounds of soft house and lounge vibes.

Is there an age restriction?
Yes, unless otherwise stated, STIMULATE is 21+

Is food available?
At this moment, STIMULATE operates as a pop up dance party series at various venues. Food availability is dependent on the venue itself, but we try our best to provide options like food vendors and food trucks if the venue does not serve food.

Is there a cell phone policy?
Yes, the purpose of STIMULATE is to bring the focus back to the dance floor. With that, we ask guests to not record or take pictures, especially of other guests without their consent. The dance floor is a sacred place where guests come to be vulnerable and expressive, not to be surveilled on social media feeds. Cell phone use is permitted in the living room.

Our motto is simple:
JOIN THE PARTY. DON'T OBSERVE IT
PARTICIPANT > SPECTATOR

Anything else I should know?
We will emphasize that STIMULATE was created to provide a safe and inclusive space for Black queer people + queer people of color. Harassment of any kind will not be tolerated. Any form of fetishizing, racism, queer phobia, transphobia, fat phobia, xenophobia, toxic masculinity, or femininity will result in immediate removal from the space.

Be respectful. Be mindful. Have fun.
