Set within the stunning Georgian landscape of Gibside, a National Trust estate on the edge of Newcastle, these guided Forest Bathing walks offer the perfect escape into nature. What is Forest Bathing?
Forest Bathing (Shinrin-yoku) is a mindful, evidence-based nature connection practice that helps you slow down, de-stress, and reconnect — with nature and yourself. It’s more than a walk in the woods; it’s an immersive sensory experience proven to improve your health and wellbeing.
Even if you struggle to relax or quiet your mind, this gentle practice offers space to unwind and reset.

No experience is needed — just a willingness to slow down and be present.
The walk is gentle (about 1–1.5 miles, with some steps and sloped paths).

Price: £35 per adult (includes a £4 donation to the National Trust and booking fees)

You don’t need to be a National Trust member — but if you are, please bring your membership card to be scanned (every visit helps!).
This experience is designed for adults aged 18 and over.
Please share any dietary needs or allergies when booking. All food is prepared by Through the Trees in a home kitchen registered with a 5-star hygiene rating.
After booking, you’ll receive a confirmation email with everything you need to prepare, relax, and enjoy your day.

Cancellation
The event will go ahead in most weather conditions, so please dress appropriately for the day.
- If Through the Trees needs to cancel or reschedule the event, ticket holders will be offered the choice of a full refund or the option to transfer to a new date.
- If you need to cancel your place, please contact Kirstie at Through the Trees as soon as possible via email (kirstie@throughthetrees.org.uk) or phone (07980 880596).
- Tickets are non-refundable, however, we understand that unexpected things can happen—consideration will be given in cases of extenuating circumstances.

Kirstie Mawhinney, founder and Director at Through the Trees, is a trained Forest Bathing Guide, Forest Therapy Practitioner and Yoga teacher. With a background as a Landscape Architect, nature has always been at the heart of her life and work. She is a passionate nature connection facilitator, forager, wild swimmer, maker and creative. Through challenging times in her own life, she has experienced how powerful nature can be in promoting wellbeing and is keen to guide others to find joy with nature.
