We are excited to have the talented Justin Sutton and North of 49 coming to the Pub Saturday August 30th with Special Guest Lester Slade!
North of 49 is a band built on years of road-worn experience. Each member brings a lifetime of musical knowledge, playing everything from small-town dives to festival stages, and it’s that experience that has shaped their sound. At this year’s Country Music Alberta Awards, Justin was been nominated for Roots Artist and Video of the year. Joining him with nominations were Darla Daniels for Specialty Instrument player of the year and Mat Patenaude for Bass Player of the year.
With a blend of old-school country roots and a modern twist, North of 49 crafts a brand of Canadian country that hits home with audiences of all kinds. From the fiddle to the rhythm section, every note carries the weight of tradition but feels fresh and alive — a testament to the band’s ability to balance respect for the past with an ear toward the future.
They don’t just play country music — they live it. Whether it’s a quiet ballad or an all-out honky-tonk jam, North of 49 brings an authenticity and power to the stage that’s impossible to ignore. It’s music that connects with people on a real, personal level, and that’s what keeps audiences coming back for more.
Over the last year they have had the chance to open for The Road Hammers, Gary Allan, Steven Lee Olsen and James Barker Band. North of 49 delivers a true representation of the country music genre.
Justin Sutton is a rising name in country music, carving out his place with a sound that feels honest and grounded. His debut album, produced by Bart McKay, introduced him to a wider audience, with tracks like “Greyhound” and “Nothin’ But Time” earning over 40,000 Spotify streams each.
Drawing from a mix of classic influences and modern country storytellers like Colter Wall and Tyler Childers, Justin’s songwriting is a blend of personal stories, wit, and raw emotion. Whether reflecting on life’s challenges or celebrating the small moments, his music captures the heart of country in a way that feels both timeless and fresh. As he continues to grow as an artist, his work remains a true reflection of the landscape and life he’s living, one song at a time.
