CULTURE SHOCK SAN DIEGO
2110 Hancock St Lobby, San Diego, CA 92110
About the Event
Two San Diego choreographers (the wreckees) offer up their works-in-progress to the "wrecking" process. We've invited four other dance artists (the wreckers) who practice in a variety of dance genres to play with the work and remake it live, in front of an audience! This is a rare opportunity for audiences to witness the creative process of dance making. Meet our wreckees & wreckers.
The Process
Each "wreckee" has 2 hours to go through the entire wrecking process (two wreckings each). The wreckee first presents the original work. Then their "wreckers" will get 45 minutes each to remake the dance on the wreckee, followed by a showing of that remake. After each wreckee’s full session, there will be a short "talk back" with artists and audience.
There is a break between the two wreckee sessions.
Free event...come & go as you please!
Throughout the entire event, audiences are welcome to come and go - pick and choose which sessions you’d like to watch, take a break whenever you need, stay for the whole event! Wristbands will be provided for re-entry.
FREE to the public (suggested $15 donation) - RSVP requested due to capacity limitations.
