CharMeck This Is My Brave

This Is My Brave is a national movement helping communities create shows that bring awareness to mental health, substance use, and the hope of recovery. Individuals with lived experience share their stories of hope on a live stage through artistic expression such as essay reading, spoken work poetry, original music, dance, and other creative methods.

The 2027 This is My Brave CharMeck Show is scheduled for Saturday, April 10 at the CPCC Parr Center Theater. There will be a Youth/Young Adult Show (13–21-year-olds), and an Adult Show (21+).

We are seeking individuals to audition to become part of the 2027 show cast. Audition slots are for 15 minutes. During the live show you will share your story in 5 minutes or less, so we ask that you come prepared with a 5-minute presentation. During the audition, a panel of 3-4 individuals will provide feedback and ask clarifying questions.

Auditions are measured by delivery, preparedness/organization, coachability, content, creativity, and emotional readiness. Perfection is not a requirement; coaching is provided if you are selected.

Before you register for an audition, please keep the following in mind:

• If you are selected, you will be required to attend a Cast Welcome Party and up to 6 rehearsals.
• While the exact locations and times are still being determined, we anticipate that the Welcome Party will take place on Sunday February 21 in the afternoon, and auditions will take place every Sunday afternoon from February 28 to April 4 (except for Easter Sunday).
• All rehearsals will be in-person with location to be determined. Additional virtual rehearsals may also be scheduled during the week in the evening if needed.
• In order to create an environment of connection and comfort with your performance and your fellow cast members, we require that you commit to attending all scheduled rehearsals. Missing more than one rehearsal may lead to you losing your spot on the cast.
• Please note that these dates and times are subject to change based on availability of show directors, supporting staff, and/or cast members.
