Our candle making workshops are not like your average craft class. It starts with the candle jar: each one is handmade by Hannah (your candle maker) using jesmonite, making your candle as much a piece of decoration and art as a candle. We think your candle should look beautiful even when it isn't burning. For this summer workshop, choose from a variety of colours from pastel pink to stone, mint green to pale blue.

Our workshops are also special as you will create your very own scent blend - you aren't using a scent pre-blended from a fragrance oil catalogue — you will build your entire scent from scratch. When you're finished your scent will be like story through top, heart and base notes. 

We transport you back to science class in a beautiful tipi in this end-of-Summer candle making workshop. Hannah has many years of experience in creating unique natural scent blends and understanding how to make the perfect scent to fill a room. 

What Do You Get?

YOUR 40 HOUR CANDLE: You will create your own unique Summer-scented candle made with planet-friendly soy wax and pure natural essential oils. Your natural non-toxic candle will burn for up to 40 hours. The scents for Summer will be focused on scents that can be burned throughout the year, but focus on lighter herbal scents and citruses - from citronella to basil and mint, with earthy woody sandalwood  beautiful florals - there are scents for every taste. 

GIFT BAG: You will also take home a little gift bag, containing unique handcrafted goodies.

TEA & COFFEE: throughout the class you will enjoy endless free tea & coffee. Hannah offers a variety of teas - from English Breakfast to fruit and non-caffeinated teas. All included in the price of your ticket!

CAKE: once the class has finished, while you wait for your candle to set, you will enjoy some tasty freshly baked cakes with more endless tea! 

Is there an age limit?

Anyone over 14 is welcome! Friends, family and partners! All welcome! Please note this class is not appropriate for under 14s.

What do you need to wear?

You're welcome to wear something a little less special, so as to avoid getting it dirty! It is unlikely you will spill oil o wax down you, as you are working with small quantities and we have silicone mats on the tables, but it's better to be safe than sorry! We are also in a tipi (albeit under heaters!) so bring layers, if it is a chillier day.

Where is it?

The workshop takes place inside the lovely tipi at Elkstone Studios, Elkstone, Cheltenham, GL53 9PQ.

The unique tipi is set in the heart of the Cotswolds. There are several electric heaters, making it a cosy candle-making experience.

Can you drink alcohol?

This particular workshop is a non-alcoholic event, but there will be tea and coffee (as well as your cake) and you're welcome to bring your own soft drinks in bottles. Hannah runs various other workshops where you can have a few tipples or you can host your own private workshop, if you're keen for a drink instead! Head to her website for more details.

Is there Parking at Elkstone Studios?

Yes! Parking is free on site for guests and there is even Electric Vehicle charging available.

What do you do to prepare?

Nothing! Just bring your lovely selves!

10.45-11.00 - Guests arrive, make themselves a cuppa and choose their candle jars

11.00-13.00 - Candle Workshop

13.00-14.00 - Tea and Cake and opening gift bags (while your candles set) 

14.00 -14.15 - Guests depart at their leisure

Please note that these timings are estimates. We may finish a little earlier or later, depending on guest numbers and requirements. Please be prepared to be flexible by around 10-15 minutes.
