We’ll explore how to paint sweet still lifes that go beyond realism — focusing on anticipation, surface, and sensory memory. Cakes will still make an appearance, but I’m expanding the theme to include fruit, both for accessibility and painterly potential. Think of it as a still life with attitude: glazes, glisten, peel, crumb, and bloom.
Bring a few fruits of your own to draw and paint from — something luscious, shiny, bumpy, or bruised. Citrus, cherries, figs, berries… anything that catches the light and stirs the senses. We’ll work in watercolor, gouache, or mixed media — and I’ll show you how to create delicious effects without overworking the surface.
The workshop is open to all levels, and I’ll guide you through a series of short exercises and demos that help you tune your eye, loosen your brush, and find the balance between accurate form and expressive mark-making.
If you’ve ever wanted to paint something beautiful and edible — and to do it with both precision and play — this is your chance.
