The Animated Figure: Drawing Gesture, Character and Life -
4 Wednesdays · June 3 – June 24, 2026 · 2–5 pm ET · Live online
Fine art figure drawing, supercharged by animation thinking.
This workshop draws on years of teaching figure drawing to advanced animation students at Sheridan College — and on what happens when you bring animation's obsession with gesture, weight, character, and story to expressive figure drawing.
Each session explores the principles that make figures live on the page: pose and mood, action and rhythm, weight and solidity, caricature and simplification. Figures clothed and nude. Media of your choice. Anatomy addressed practically, in service of expression.
For artists with figure drawing experience who want to push beyond technical accuracy into gesture, character, and story.
