Metals 103: Part 3 Certification Series

Part 3 of Shop Certification

This class will be the final of three classes designed to safety certify and educate new members to the Metalcraft, Jewelry and Lapidary shop to earn independent use of the shop.

Your certification journey should have helped you produce something along the lines of these copper vessels. Yours will be your own design, these are only examples.

In this final class we will learn more complicated soldering processes and learn more about the torch systems we use in the shop. You will also be finalizing your sampler project with a few more powered tools. We will cover finishing and protecting for longevity as well.

Some things to remember:

• Bring water

• Wear shop appropriate clothing

• Bring your project and any accoutrements you have made for it
• Be sure to have made any arrangements for additional materials BEFORE the class date to allow for ordering time. ;)
  

• Be ready to show your log sheet

Upon completion of this class and project you will have earned independent use of the MJ and L shop. This class will run three hours, and is designed to be mostly work time.

• General safety
• Torch safety
• Powered tool safety
• New soldering techniques
• New powered tool use
