Intro. to Home Sewing
Mon Apr 8, 2024 5:30 PM - 8:30 PM
TinkerMill @ 1840 Delaware Pl, 80501
Description
DESCRIPTION
This class will take you through the process of constructing a simple tote bag from start to finish. You will learn the basic techniques needed to begin sewing your own projects, become familiar with the machines and tools we have available in the workshop, and learn how to use them properly.
We will be using the home sewing machines, which are perfect for most projects and require no certification to use. If you do not have previous sewing experience and are interested in using the industrial machines for more heavy-duty projects, it is highly recommended that you take this class prior to getting your industrial certification.
Topics covered in this class include:
- Choosing the correct tools and materials for your project
- Measuring and cutting your pattern
- Finishing fabric edges with the serger
- Parts of the machine and how to operate them
- Troubleshooting common issues
- Basic techniques for sewing seams, hemlines, and handles
All necessary materials will be provided, however you may bring your own fabric if you prefer. No previous sewing or embroidery experience is needed. In fact, this class is a good way to learn the basics of sewing machine operation in a fun, easy setting where the machine does most of the work for you!
This class is open to the public. The cost is $60 for TinkerMill members and $80 for non-members. All materials are included.
