Bezel Set Jewelry

Using polished stones in jewelry and wearable art has been "a thing" for many centuries. This more elegant form of setting uses fire and alloys to create a stunning setting for a polished stone.

AGENDA:

  • Introductions and Attendance
  • Class overview and safety review
  • Selection of Materials
  • Demonstration of first steps - How to fit the stone, creating design
  • Work Time
  • Demonstration of next steps- Soldering the bezel, checking fit
  • Work Time
  • Demonstration of next step- Soldering to back plate, discuss hanging device.
  • Work Time
  • Recap and Review
  • Closing and clean up


Prerequisites:

It is recommended that you have taken all three of the Metals certifications (100-1, 102, and 103). This will expedite your learning and your project. NOTE: This is a project based class, demonstrations will be handled as if you have never touched any of these tools before.

Supplies:

All supplies are included in the class fee. If you are set on bringing your own supplies please contact the instructor prior to the class. No further discounts will be given for bringing your own materials.

Age Requirements:

The shop recommends the minimum age for this class to be 16, due to the nature of the tools and processes. All participants under the age of 18 must at all times be accompanied by a legal guardian also attending the class.

Maximum Number of Registrants:

The maximum number of students for this class is 5. Register early to secure your seat. Registration for this class closes three days prior to the start of class.

Appropriate clothing:

It is required at all times in the Metalcraft, Jewelry, and Lapidary shop to adhere to the following: Safety glasses at all times while in the shop, close-toed shoes (no tennis shoes), cotton or other natural fiber clothing, no loose-dangling clothing or accoutrements, tie all long hair and beards up.

No-Show/Cancellation Policy: Should you need to cancel after registering for this class or any other class in the shop, if cancelling within one week of the scheduled class you will enjoy a full refund. If you need to cancel and are within three days of the class, you will enjoy a 50% refund. If you forget to do either of these and are a no show, you will not receive credit or refund for this class and your fees will be sacrificed to the shop for future supplies and equipment.

Seats and space is limited in this shop, there is most times a waiting list for classes, please be respectful to potential, and existing attendees and your instructor and communicate early. Thank you!!
