Metals 342- Project: Leaf it to Nature!

Description
In this project class students will create a piece of jewelry inspired by leaves or plant structures. This class is suitable for those wishing to build skills in sawing, soldering, wire wrapping, riveting, polishing, or power tool use. It is recommended to have taken the Metalcraft and Jewelry certification series, but not required. Demos will be interspersed with instruction. We will consider solid or line work, patina or shiny, single or multiples for our piece. This is a three hour class, attendees may finish earlier, or need to utilize open studio on the first and second Saturdays of the month.
Agenda:
- Intro and attendance (meet your classmates and check in)
- Instruction and overview of the project parameters (hand out overview and answer questions)
- Design time (create design, research design, prepare design for metal work)
- get materials ( we will be working with copper and brass, you are welcome to bring your own materials but this does not change the price)
- Begin working
- Share your work (tell us what you made, or are making)
- Clean up (leave it better than you found it)
This class is suitable for attendees 13 and up with some training. All attendees under 18 must be accompanied by a paid adult also taking the class. The fee for this class includes studio time, instruction, materials, machine and fuel use. Members enjoy discounted class fees, are you a member? Appropriate attire for this class is: work boots, natural fiber clothing, hair-ties, safety glasses and no loose sleeves or scarves.
