Please plan accordingly, there will be a short break between sections of learning for a quick meal or snack break. Bring your choice of hydration in a closed container or beverages are available for purchase. You will need shop appropriate attire for this class, closed- toed shoes and clothing that is fine being a little wet. If you have favorite personal protection equipment ( eyes, ears, mouth) you may want to bring it with you, there are options in the shop if you do not.

- Be introduced to our safety protocols and expectations.
- Get familiar with the set-up process and operation of each of the tools
- Learn the clean up process and expectations for the shop
- Learn the types of materials appropriate for our shop
Things to bring with you:
- Appropriate shop attire: non-flowing clothes, quick dry attire is best (you might get wet!)
- Closed toed shoes, no sandals or tennis shoes.
- Hair tie for long hair and beards.
- If you already own safety glasses, please bring them, otherwise they are provided by the shop.

- You will not need to bring your own stones. Cutting material will be provided for you. Please let the event planner know ahead of time if you are considering bringing your own stone/rock to the class.
This is a two part class you must sign up for both dates listed to complete the certification. We have created a full day workshop for folks who cannot make the two evenings work with scheduling. These only happen once a month. This listing is for the full day workshop.
Lapidary Part Two
In this portion of the class you will learn how to shape and polish a stone for further use in jewelry, inlay and more. Shaping stones or Cabbing is part of Jewelry fabrication.
Creating cabochons is a lapidary process, one that was created for jewelers to include in their fabrications. Some Lapidary artists are jewelry artists and vice versa. And some Lapidary artists only work with minerals, stone and silica.
In this class you will be introduced to the Cab King lapidary shaping arbor, the flat lap, and some smaller tools for creating cabochons. You will learn how to shape the stone you cut in the 500 class into something you could wrap or create a setting for in a piece of jewelry, or other accoutrements.
Agenda:
