Textiles: Intermediate Machine Embroidery - Digitizing
DESCRIPTION
Learn the art of making files for machine embroidery! This intermediate class includes a dive into the process of digitizing, also known as: transforming artwork into a file format that embroidery machines can read.
Topics covered in this class include:
- Installing software for digitizing *see below for laptop requirements
- Vectorizing/optimizing your artwork for digitizing *see below for artwork file requirements
- Adjusting vector details for digitizing
- Sizing and translating your vector artwork to stitchable files
- Simulating your stitchable design
- Exporting your stitchable design as a .pes file to be read by TinkerMill's embroidery machines
Note: PREREQUISITE - This class is only available to those who have taken the Intro to Machine Embroidery class certification taught at TinkerMill.
Other Class Requirements:
- This class requires participants to bring their own laptop. Your laptop must have more than 2GB of additional space on it's hard drive to download the digitizing software used for this class. Your laptop must also be able to run a software called Inkscape, we recommend looking at the Inkscape website here for installation requirements.
-Please come prepared with 3 digital artwork files that can be chosen from for the digitizing process.
- *Digital artwork files must be in the form of .jpeg, .png, .svg, or .ai
- Digital artwork files must have less than 6 colors, and no gradient features (those require farther advanced digitizing processes)
This class is open to the public, however, TinkerMill membership is highly recommended. The cost is $55 for TinkerMill members and $75 for non-members. All materials are included. 14+ only.
