Fri Feb 16, 2024 7:30 PM - 10:30 PM
Northampton Center for the Arts at 33 Hawley, 01060
Description
POSTPONED due to Covid: The Hagiography: A Musical Pilgrimage through the Lives of the Saints (more details below)
In its place, Tiny Glass Tavern presents:
Sophie et Adam
Fri. Feb 16th at 7.30pm at the Northampton Centre for the Arts
33 Hawley St, Northampton MA, 01060
Sophie et Adam is a duo inspired by many singing traditions they have crossed paths with on their musical journey. Pub Songs from England, Cabaret chansons from 1940s Paris, 18th century Sacred Harp singing, Milongas from Argentina, Scottish Ballads, and Singer-Songwriter repertoire from Chile... Regardless of the origin or the time period, they share music that moves them with their audiences. Individually they collaborate musically with some of the most vibrant ensembles in New England: The Boston Symphony Orchestra, Boston Early Music Festival, The Lorelei Ensemble, A Far Cry, Blue Heron, Harvard University, the Trinity Church of Boston, etc. But as a duo, they create a warm and intimate moment in which time stops, and music from around the world speaks.
Here are some examples of what you might hear on Friday night:
Dans le port d'Amsterdam - Jacques Brel
Lord Build me a cabin - Curtis L Stewart (USA)
The trees they do grow high - Trad English Folk song
Sous le ciel de Paris - Edith Piaf
Dear Tiny Glass Tavern friends,
I write with bad, and good news!
Bad news: We have decided to postpone The Hagiography program: Fiona Gillespie, the creator and one of the main composers of "The Hagiography" has just tested positive for Covid. She and her partner Paul, will not be able to come to Western MA, to rehearse or perform the concert.
Good news: Adam and I are offering in its place, a duo concert of Sophie et Adam in the place of the original concert. Same time, same place: Fri 2/16 at 7.30 at the Northampton Centre for the Arts, with great music for voice guitar, and piano from France, Argentina, Brazil, England, originals, and more... (more information at www.sophieetadam.com).
If you have already purchased a ticket: If you are still interested in joining us for the Friday concert, you don't need to do anything: Your ticket will serve for the Friday concert.
If you would rather receive a reimbursement for your ticket, simply request reimbursement at tinyglasstavern@gmail.com, or via Ticket Tailor. After your request, you will receive reimbursement in the next few days, no questions asked.
